Hey

After paying the $1000 for my console and putting in a copy of Resistance I'm not going to lie, I was pretty dissapointed in the PS3 compared to my Xbox

But slowly and surely the PS3 is growing on me, just really hope the next wave of games pick it up or we could be at the beginning of the end of the new console, which will really piss me off after spending so much lol

Now I'm not saying I expect Gears of War quality from the first or second round of games, but I was expecting a little more you know....

But all in all I've become happy with my ps3, now I own all three next gen consoles

Personally i think that resistance was lacking in the storyline area, it needed to be alot more involved with the character (like halo is). To me it seems like the story is just about your missions, what you have to do in them and everything that would be intresting if they went into it further they simply kept repeating that it was a "chimera mystery" which was pretty stupid. Hopefully when/if they make a sequel they will maybe explain more about the first game and continue to do so with the 2nd part. That being said i actually enjoy the multiplayer more than the singleplayer, at least they have done exceptionally well on some part of the game

As for the disappointment, I'm not surprised. To me PS3 graphics look dismal compared to 360, not that I'm trying to start up this argument again. (r600, R600!!!)! But you'd think that the technology would've at least advanced a little over twelve months, not gotten worse... a year is a LONG time in the gaming industry.

I ended up getting Blazing Angels, it's not bad so far, although i've only done the training level and had a bit of a play online (and had my arse handed back to me). Graphics wise, i was VERY impressed with the Formula 1 game. That is amazing. Looks great, feels great. I've got Oblivion on pre-order, i'll be looking forward to that. There is clearly potential in the PS3, one thing they certainly got right was getting demos downloadable.

Those screenshots look excellent, however so does F1. You don't honestly believe that F1 is ugly? Have you seen it on your screen. The car from the ****pit looks amazing. The road, the tyres, it's awesome. I guess everyone has their own opinion on it...

It also depends on what tv your viewing the game on and resolution. Also you can't really compare a game to a totally different title (graphics wise) as it isn't the same game however, if it were the same game on another console then yes you could compare.

I played F1 at Harvey on a 23" Sony Bravia set to 720p (I asked), I was not impressed at all... I have a 19" widescreen Samsung PC monitor at home, and the PGR3 demo on that looks absolutely stunning, as in, everything looks a whole lot more polished and very next gen. (and that's in a 16:10 ratio, so it's not even native resolution!). F1 would impress someone who has been using a PS2 up until they bought their PS3, and hasn't experienced next gen graphics yet. Motorstorm looks A LOT better than F1, but it mostly relied on it's blur effects to achieve that... and it still has nothing on PGR and Test Drive and stuff like that...

I'm not even going to start on how much better shooters look on 360... If the PS3 is half of what they've said it is, it should be pwning the 360 by now... And you know how Sony overhypes EVERYTHING!

Well i don't reckon the ps3 should be absolutely outstanding atm as it is only new, once developers understand and figure out how to optimise the ps3's hardware, the games will start looking alot better. A good example of this is call of duty 3, the game looks pretty nice althought it has a choppy framerate and this doesn't kick in during hugely populated gunfights etc, but can happen in some really really blank areas.

Its a known fact that sony "revised" the ps3's specifications shortly before the first production phase in order to reduce manufacturing costs. Sony have been operating under negative profits for some time (is it hot in here or did my laptop just burst into flames?) now so its very possible sony have cut too many hardware costs and are now relying completely on the "blu-ray factor" to ship units. If the ps3 is capable of superior graphics why do none of their first gen games look better that the 360's first gen's?
It could be just a slow start, but still there's plenty of reasons not to take the 1k gamble.

As YourMum said (lol, that doesn't sound right...), whenever Sony knows they've been beaten, they just slap on the "but it's got Bluray" band-aid like as if they think Bluray justifies all of the PS3's faults...

hey just wondering wat setup u got? i played my ps3 on my friends rear projection tv, and on my parents widescreen crt tv and i wasnt impressed that much either. But on my 1080p tv it does look nice.
