It’s most likely because they timed out while trying to connect to you. If your ps3 is running in NAT3 (look in the network connection status in the XMB to see what NAT type you are) then it will be more difficult for people to join up with you. So if you and your friends can get your self down to NAT type 2 it should solve this problem.
