The original Predator scared me when younger. We had those boirds near our place that made "that" clicking noise the Predator does. the original puts the AVP movies to absolute shame.

Thirteen Ghosts was scary. So was the Ring, and the first Jeepers Creepers until you see what the thing is, then it becomes a little unrealistic.
