Playstation 3 Hardware \ Rumor: Break-apart Ps3 controller coming soon!

From the article:
"GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that Sony already has a third controller for PlayStation 3 in the works, one that will split into two parts for Wii-like remote / nunchuk style motion control gameplay. The site cites unnamed sources for their information on the device, which they claim is already in the hands of some PS3 developers, and may be unveiled at next month's E3 summit.
This "break apart" design, if real, certainly sounds a lot like one of the early prototype Wii controllers Nintendo was toying with before settling on the more simple remote concept. Kotaku has their own version of the rumor, in which it's not a controller, but a set of sensors one places on their body. We'll be the first to speculate that neither is correct! Instead, the new controller is like one of those beer can hats, only you place two Dual Shock 3 pads in it.
We've put in a call for comment from Sony, but have yet to hear back. If you're one of the "close development partners" who supposedly has one of these pads in-house, feel free to drop us a line. We'd love to chat."
Just before i plan to get a Ps3, Sony goes and possibly pulls a stunt like this. Not that i'm complaining, i quite like the idea as i've never liked any iteration of any controller on any Sony product (but i need a Blu-Ray player and FFXIII LOL)

Personally, as much as i am a huge, epic, monstrous Wii fanboy (while still being able to see the strengths of competing consoles) i really dont want to see Sony go down this path. I know i said i quite like the idea, and in theory it would be very cool, but it took 12 months for most devs to really understand how to use the Wiimote effectivly, nevermind having to do it all over again for another motion controller. This is just going to lead to floods of mini-game compilations and botched motion controls (LOL @ RED STEEL PORT WITH BAD CONTROLS STILL). The should instead be putting more time and money into HOME.

I don't personally like the idea, I'm happy with the controller. If I wana go muck around swing my controller around, ill play wii but the PS3 should stay the way it is.
It is a rumor after-all.

It sounds like a cheap toy idea...pulling your PS3 controller apart...why? I dont like it personally.

I have a Wii for motion sensing games and I bought a PS3 for games played the conventional way. Sometimes you just want to kick back on the couch and enjoy a game without wiggling something around in the air. Don't get me wrong I like the Wii remote and its motion sensing but not for everything.
