Wow! that's exactly what happened (over-heating for me) to my 60GB PS3...only difference is...

1. It was COD4 (US version) that is stuck forever, lol.

2. I'll still go to Tokyo regardless.

My suggestion to you now (if you really do want to go to the Tokyo MGO comp) is to get yourself another PS3 and a copy of MGS4 (or MGO) asap.

Anyway, R.I.P. My condolences.

yeah my mate has a ps3 and a copy of mgs4, so i should be able to play that still, and just pray i get my ps3 back in time for when/if i go

update, taken out HDD(320gb) and letting it sit out for a while to cool down

Apparently there's less air circulation horizontal. Ever since I read that I added a slight mod to my PS3 and stood it vertical, definitely helped.

Well its all sorted out, they emailed me the barcode thing for postage, and they said they wont charge me anything, because its an original launch console so there covering it. (thank god)
They told me to right a note saying game disc is stuck in ps3 and to place it in and on the outside of the package.
Now come monday i shall play the waiting game

original launch console? i dont get it, arent they all consoles launched by ps3, and your ps3 wasnt the very first launch one either.
