As the new year has arrived, gamers everywhere are preparing for one of the most exciting years in video-game history, with many amazing titles hitting shelves sometime throughout the year. You have some original titles that look set to spawm many sequels, as well as some old faces that will make their first appearance on the current generation of consoles.
To help you decide which games you should be looking forward too in 2008, we've made up a list of some Playstation 3 titles that look set to blow everyone away.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriot
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the forthcoming game in the famous and critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid franchise. It looks set to be the last game in the series to star Solid Snake, the intimidating soldier and protagonist.
What's it all about?
Set in 2014, five years after the "Manhattan Incident" (the events of the Plant chapter from Metal Gear Solid 2), Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fueling the need for private military companies (PMCs) to fight proxy wars for business purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries. The five largest of these PMCs are owned by a single mother company named Outer Haven, which is operated by Liquid Ocelot. With the world once again in crisis, a rapidly aging and disillusioned Solid Snake is deployed into the Middle East by Roy Campbell to terminate Liquid.

Devil May Cry 4
Devil May Cry 4 is the fourth addition to the critically acclaimed and highly popular Devil May Cry series. For the first time, Dante, the awesome, cool demon slayer, comes to an XBOX console. After three other titles that challenged gamers everywhere, Devil May Cry 4 looks set to once again provide players with its high-difficulty, something that has become acustomned to Devil May Cry games.
What's it all about?
In DMC 4, players control Dante, as well as several other playable characters. Nero will assist Dante in the slaying of demonic souls, using firearms, swords and a large variety of combat moves. In this fourth title in the series, players switch between Nero and Dante, as word spreads across the land that Dante has betrayed mankind and slaughtered fellow warriors of Nero, joining forces with the evil that Dark Knight Sparda once fought single-handedly for mankind.

Grand Theft Auto IV
With this fourth addition to the infamous and critically acclaimed franchise Grand Theft Auto IV makes its High Definition debut on both the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, and brings players back to Liberty City. In what looks set to be the largest and most interactive GTA title yet, IV has a deep story-line, new gameplay and an advanced graphics engine that makes it one of the must-have titles of 2008.
What's it all about?
Taking on the role of Niko Bellic, players return to Libery City to help Niko rise up to become successful and make a name for himself in the American way of life. All of the typical GTA-esque gameplaye elements will be present.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles
Midnight Club: Los Angeles is the forth installment of the Midnight Club franchise and pits racers in the streets of Los Angeles and players aim to own the street-racing circuit. With fantastic graphics and all-new gameplay elements, Midnight Club: Los Angeles looks set to be the best of the series and one of the most amazing racing titles available this generation.
What's it all about?
This time round, the setting is a free-roaming Los Angeles that is larger than all of the cities in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition combined. New additions are day-to-night and weather effects and a Quick-Fix option. The developed city of Los Angeles is also believed to be the most realistic and accurate version of LA in a video-game yet.

Turok
The Turok franchise is often considered as one of the bench-marks of the FPS genre. The first Turok game, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter that appeared on the Nintendo 64, took advantage of the success of GoldenEye 007 and created yet another mindblowing, FPS shooting experience. That's why today the series can be considered as one of the trailblazers when it comes to the success of FPS. Now, Turok comes to the HD generation with all no enemies, dinosaurs, graphics and gameplay.
What's it all about?
Players control Joseph Turok, a former Black OPs Commando, on an isolated planet in the near future. Turok must take down a war criminal while also surviving the surroundings on the genetically-altered planet.

Rock Band
Rock Band has slowly made its way up the charts across North American and looks set to do the same here, especially considering the success of the Guitar Hero games. This time round, players take full control of an upcoming rockband on the way to ultimate stardom.
What's it all about?
Along with your friends, take control of a rock band and perform some of the biggest and most well-known rock songs of all time with more master recording than ever. Use a drum kit, bass guitar and microphone to become the biggest and most loved Rock Band on the plaet.

Silent Hill V
Silent Hill 5 brings the scary and thrilling horror series to the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 in 2008. With all new gameplay, new scares, new plot and exclusive content, Silent Hill V looks set to be the scariest and most thrilling one yet.
What's it all about?
Alex Shepherd, a war veteran who returns home from an overseas tour of duty finds that his father and younger brother Joshua have disappeared without a trace. His mother has gone into catatonia and Alex begins to search for his brother, leading him to Silent Hill.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Rainbow Six Vegas. Once again, players will have the chance to lead a group of special OPs through Las Vegas and help defend the city from terrorists, using special tactics.
What's it all about?
Giving players the chance to create their own character, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 acts as a "part sequel, part prequel" to the first Vegas title. All of the same old FPS gameplay elements will be back, along with all new ones, as well as the popular and much herald online multiplayer modes.

Saint's Row 2
Saint's Row 2 is the sequel to the popular, free-roaming and mission based game, Saint's Row from THQ, which appeared exclusively on XBOX 360.
What's it all about?
Coming out on both the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, Saint's Row 2 will be a darker and more sinister game than the original. Gameplay will still be mission-based and GTA-esque, but there will be improve graphics and gameplay mechanics. It is a direct continuation of the story from the first game.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Ghostbusters: The Video Game looks set to be an ode to movie-enthusiasts as well as fans of the original Ghostbusters films. After rumors of a third film swirling around for year, this game looks to be the official installment in the franchise.
What's it all about?
Set in New York City in 1991, only a few years after the events of the last film, players take control of a new Ghostbuster that must help the original members of the Ghostbusters take care of supernatural ghosts and ghouls that have began plaguing the city once again.
