PS3 News \ 80GB PS3 Priced & Dated by Retailers
According to a leading Australian Retailer the new 80GB PS3 will launch for $699AUD on August 28 2008 in Australia. The retailer has begun advertising the price and offered information when questioned for the new model of the PS3, although Sony have yet to confirm this.
Sony Australia has yet to officially announce a price or release date for the 80GB PlayStation 3 Down Under. The August 28 release date syncs conveniently with the August release in the US and printed advertisements in retailers suggest the information is creditable.
The 40GB PS3 currently sells for $699, if this information is confirmed by Sony the HDD will be double free of charge. Stay tuned for Sony’s official confirmation.

as far as i can work out we're getting less than $0.60US value for our "gaming dollar"... i doubt it's going into game retailers pockets either...

Little Big Planet pre-order US = $60
Aussie will be @$100AU
your forgeting that the US dont have tax inclusive prices. so they have to pay 60+ tax for their games and/or consoles. They still get them cheaper than wee do but the difference isnt as much as people make it out to be.
Also our dollar wasnt allways so strong comparied to the USD.
