So you start walking down the street and it’s a nice day thinking nothing bad is going to happen until you see a shadow hovering over you and before you realized it, you were just falling through a bunch a stairs, being run over by a subway, and trampling over old ladies. And all this was caused by a guy who for some reason has a big-ass slingshot that keeps flinging himself to buildings and whatnot causing havoc and pain. PAIN is a downloadable Playstation Network (or PSN for short) game that you can purchase for around $9.99. The game’s main purpose is to chuck a guy with a gigantic but humorous slingshot and try to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible. What’s amazing is that the guy doesn’t even feel a thing; he probably gave himself shots where you feel numb for a while.

Let’s start with the good aspects of the game.

What’s good about this game is that it’s good for laughs. The game has a idiotic and immature humor that I’m sure you guys will like. What’s most funny is the when the guy is screaming in pain after sending him flying at 80 mph then later hitting a cop car or a monkey hanging by a balcony. You can basically send him flying almost everywhere or anything that may cause damage. There is a point system but will only last once because it will become zero once you fling the guy again.

Besides flinging just one random guy, there are 3 ‘unique’ characters. One character is a guy dressed up in horse suit and the other two is Santa Clause and Santa’s helper. Those two although will have to be bought from the PSN store. Also the first guy you use has costume changes to make the game more enjoyable.


Whatever you do, don’t turn around..

That’s one pose you can do whenever you flying through the air but you have to have good timing or else the pose will cancel and you will not get points. Another good thing about the game is the option to replay the pain and chaos you caused. You can show it in slow-motion or scene by scene. You can even have a free camera in which you can move the camera freely wherever you’d like. Thanks to that option you can see all the funny and inappropriate things the developers have made. What’s surprising is that this game actually has multiplayer (no online though) so you don’t have to cause pain by yourself. There are three different modes for multiplayer:

 • HORSE
-In this mode, you will need to pick a target and get the highest score possible.

 • Bowling
- In this mode, it ‘s like bowling but with a PAINful twist. You will need to destroy the city to stop your opponents from scoring.

 • Fun With Explosives
- In this mode, the downtown area has been filled with explosives. Try to blow them all up!

Pain does come with a rewards system. The rewards you get are mostly trophies and you can earn them by either doing a certain pose for a matter of time, how many combos you can do, or if you hit certain objects like the old lady in the street or a moving subway


-There are lot of different trophies for you to earn in the game. Try to collect them all!

Now the bad aspects of the game.

Sure this game will be good for laughs every now and then but unfortunately, this game is too repetitive. Basically all you do is fling some random guy and hopefully it will cause a chain reaction that will give you massive points still cause pain and havoc. All that could last for a good 30 min. if you have nothing else to do. Also there is only one stage map which is the downtown area. I mean they could at least add another stage map to cause more pain and havoc. Sometimes it’s good to cause pain but doing it for too long can bore you and thus making you regret to buy the game.

Conclusion Overall this game is where you can enjoy to play several times and it’s funny as hell. It’s one of those game where you can channel your anger in if you’ve been having a bad day. The game is good for laughs because of it’s different ways to cause pain and whatnot. But if you have no sense of humor, then this game it not for you because it can be very idiotic sometimes. If you have a sense of humor, then go have fun and play the darn game.
