Activision wants online fees for Call of Duty

Activision has declared that they want to start charging gamers to play their Call of Duty games like they do in World of Warcraft.

Chief Financial Officer for Activision Blizzard Thomas Tippl had said that "It's definitely an aspiration that we see potential in, particularly as we look at different business models to monetize the online gameplay."

Admitting that it may be difficult to follow in the same line as World of Warcraft, players should expect some new 'pay-to-use' versions of it's other games.

Citing an apparent demand to pay for additional services he added,

Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovations they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that."

The gaming industry's goal, like any other industry in the market is to make money. But no doubt this change won't be too popular with many gamers.
