Gran Turismo creator "angry" after GT releases

Speaking with Venturebeat.com, Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi says he is usually pissed off and angry whenever a new game is release.

"I am usually pretty frustrated when a version comes out," said Yamauchi. "Right after the release, I think we should have done this or should have done that. A game release is not a very happy time for me. When a new title comes out, I look to the next one to fix it.

"I'm usually pretty angry after the release of the title."

Yamauchi also says in the interview that, interestingly enough, Gran Turismo 5 uses only 80% of the PS3's power.

+1 thats right most creators only cares about profit they make but Kazunori Yamauchi takes great pride making this game.

I dont understand the hype for racing sims, Forza 3 is boring and so will GT5 be. Yes it has more cars, better graphics but at the end of the day its just lots of repetitive track racing. No nitrous or high jumps or anything remotely exciting. When you get further into these games and are faced with races requiring 10+ laps to be completed i just give up.

I wish this guy would put his enthusiasm elsewhere and make something original. With his 'perfectionist' style we could end up with something truly great.

I can be a perfectionist at times but its a joy when its out in the public because there's no more late night worrying about what needs to be done, surely he has a plan. I'm assuming all this anger is due to his ego and the public perception. Will it live up to the hype stuff... GT isn't a reason why I got a ps3 anyways.

sure, it all good to fix it in the next version (if given another opportunity) but you just have to work on the strengths of the previous games and go from there and there's no doubt it'll be compared to forza which has had rave reviews on the 360 but GT isn't no slouch either, its just a sloth in developing time

80 percent of the ps3 power? what does this number mean? what exactly is it not taking advantage of? It's had a few years to get it going, its an exclusive! I highly doubt with the way things are going that there's goign to be another iteration on the ps3 unless they stop being such tools. wouldn't mind know what exactly is stopping them from using more. is it because certain areas of the game is more demanding and not as optimised? Is the 20 percent just not suitable for this type of programming. Does this 80% mean its still the most beautiful game on the ps3 ie surpassing graphical games like uncharted 2, if not, why? bloody numbers with no explanation!

Basic racer...yeah right. Grand tourismo has been voted by fans and critics alike as the best car racing sim ever. Basic lol. I suppose Mario cart in your opinion is the greatest car racing game ever made.

yes, im sure (sarcasm). it was never a fricking 'basic' racer. i dont think basic racers allow you to alter your gear ratios and change the spring rate, etc. i agree with spacesteve up above. u would probably rate mario kart as a sophisticated game? ive actually got it and im pretty sure everyone agrees, GT is much more sophisticated and mario kart much, much more basic.
