Social \ Iphone Prices WTF

Its pretty funny at the price yet its damn wrong.
Well pretty much what I'm saying is.
We *Australia in general* are paying about $729 for a 8gb and $849 for a 16gb. When the exchange rate is like 1aud to 96c American so this really doesn't work out with the prices becuase Iphones ins America range at about $250 to $500 USD so its really Muffed up how were getting ripped off. What are your thoughts on the matter I have brang up?

yeah i noticed the prices were way too high and read that it would be around 200 to 300 dollars in australia but now mobile phone shops are ripping everyone off

No offense to any one here but please research the topic before stating your opinion. The iPhone is selling in the US for $200-$300 because that is an upfront cost. You then have to sign up for a 2 year contract. The same applies for Australia, however the handset repayments are mostly monthly. If you actually look at it you can get an iPhone cheaper in Australia over 24 months

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the way the iPhone is being distributed here. In USA and basically every other country the iPhone has been released the device has been locked to one carrier, therefore the price of the phone has been subsidised by the carrier of the phone. In australia because it is not locked into the one carrier, the company is not going to subsidise the cost of the phone,. therefore making it pricier for consumers

i heard somewhere that once if you sign up with a contract in america your able to cancel it after 30 days at a price of $175 US adding up to half the price

we pay way to much in general, the games industry is a great example of this we pay $100-120 for new games that America get for $50-60. If you want cheap things esspecially in technology you wont get this in Australia.

same goes for everything dude, i can get sports supplements from overseas for 70 bucks shipped to my door where as stores charge 120 for the same stuff. it just sucks dude. so many middle men on the way across the ocean.

I have planed to get a Iphone on a plan with Optus. Its a $49 cap plan, Its a pretty sweet deal I pay $7 a month for 24 months for the Iphone plus $300 worth of Calls & Text to any mobile in Australia or International for $49 a month.

I really don't understand why the hell people actually like this phone.. it lacks many of the features phones have had for the last 2 years... just because it has a touch screen....its rather sad to see people lining the up for 2nd grade technology. Hats off to apple, fantastic marketing!
