Well, the largest 2.5" hard drive out there is a 500GB and I'm using it fine at the moment

Dude, download the PS3 Update file from the Playstation website and place it on your flash drive in X:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP
Then the PS3 will update your firmware.

500gig is the go right now, however even in the future, i am doubting 1 tb. the number of layers in 1 tb hard drive creates alot of heat. heat and playstation are not good friends.

It's like a search engine for computer parts, comparing prices between hundreds of Australian computer online stores.
Search for like "500gb 2.5" or something like that. That's how I found my Samsung 500GB

I reckon my 320gb hard drive is nowhere near enough considering im down to 200gb with barely anything on it. And I plan on getting PlayTV when it arrives

I have a 250Gb hard drive in my ps3 and so far plenty of room left.
I hope that the next update will allow us to transfer games to the hard drive like the 360 is going to let you do

how big are the tv recordings for playtv anyway?
instead of replacing your ps3 hdd, just get an external hdd for all those playtv recordings.

I'm trying to back up my hard drive to a 32gb USB Drive and the back up is stopping at 45% saying the USB device can not be accessed. Can anyone help with this?

Maybe the PS3 Firmware update is not yet updated to read 32gb USB Drives?? Not sure though!?

One of my USB flash sticks keeps getting that error message, when I'm backing up game saves. Try it out with a different USB flash stick. It turns out only one of my USB sticks gives me that error message (even after reformatting it!)

if you're backing up youre entire hard drive, there might not be enough space on the 32gb stick....personally my backup file was 42gb (when i had a 60g HDD), yours might not be as big but it still might be too big for that flash drive.....dont forget it wont actually hold a full 32g either after formatting...
or matrix could be on the right track...
its a lovely thought though, to have your whole hdd on a stick
