MyPS3 Feature God of War III

Hey I have a question, I just imported Afro Samurai Season 1 on Blu-ray cause all the sites said it was region-free. Now, a few have updated saying that its now region-locked (yay, right?). Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone knew if the "PS3 Blu-Ray Region Unlock Hack" actually worked?

forums.whirlpool.net.au/ Apparently you press a string of buttons on your Blu-ray remote and you can actually unlock the region coding of the PS3 (HOLD PRESS SELECT 3 SEC, REMOTE PS3 6,6,7,4,6,2 UNLOCK PS3 REGION.) Has anyone tried this yet? Just wondering.. thanks

Not yet, i dont have a Region A disc or anything. Guess ill wait till Afro arrives and see what happens. Man im pissed, everyone said "Yeah its Region ABC - plays on anything" - and now just browsing HD Movie Source again i see that they've changed it to "Region A only". Arrgh.

I wonder if it'd work the other way around.
I have an American PS3 ... so it plays Region A Blu-ray movies.

I have a Region B BD movie here (Simpsons, region-locked). Wonder if I should try it out.

But I need to confirm whether this is right or not:

Unlimited internet is the norm in the States. I wonder how long before our speeds and services vastly improve.

This is the quote from the site;

all aussie and UK blu-rays are region B.

a lot of american blu-rays are region free.

There is a hack that I found, but not sure what it does or if it works on the aussie PS3.

I tried it out ... and I'm starting to think think that it's a load of crock?

I held SELECT 3 seconds, then pressed 667462 before starting up the movie. That didn't help.
I started the movie, and once got to the "you need a Region B player to play this movie" screen ... tried the SELECT 667462 still doesn't work.

Either I'm doing something wrong ...
Or it only works on Region B PS3s?

Yeah, it sounded too good to be true, as well as ridiculous..

But apparently the PS3 blu-ray player is entirely software, apart from the drive. So hopefully in time to come, they'll release a firmware that allows it be region free.

The reason why it's all controlled by software is for anti-hacking. A quick firmware fix can stop hackers / modchips etc.

Just found that somewhere.

Well with my old dvd player you had to do a similar thing (Cheat code style) to make it Region Free and it worked. So its possible i guess.
