SingStar - 8/10

Take centre stage and get your signing voices warmed up because the best Singstar game has just recently hit the PS3! Shock people with your voice... or not. This PS3 exclusive has many features especially online. This game is great for parties, playing with your friends and family get togethers. Even though you may not like singing it is still good to give it a go. This game is definitely for you if you like singing and don’t mind other people listening.

As you probably already know, SingStar is a very popular karaoke/sing-along game. The game rates you depending on your singing talent. It can either describe you as Awful- Good. If you buy the full pack you will receive both the game and 2 microphones. If you want to play with more people, separate microphones are also available. If you have bought any of the previous games in the SingStar Series you can just use the old microphones and buy the game disc separately. There are many different modes that you can use including Battle, Duet and Pass The Mic which are all more than one players. If you just want to by yourself you would choose Sing Solo.

Are you thinking about getting this game but don’t know any of the songs? Singstar makes it very easy to learn them because words come up at the bottom of the screen. Also the pitch bar appears so you know whether to go higher or lower. This makes it very helpful to hit the right notes. Also if you want to save O’Briens coming to fix your windows, you can turn your microphone down to a low volume or completly off.



Online is very good for sharing your videos and pictures with other people around the world. To do this you need a PlayStation Eye which are available for around $50.00. If you can find your old EyeToy hidden under some dust they also work. When you finish a song you just save your video. When you upload it you can choose whether its public (meaning anyone can view it) or private (meaning only people on your friends list can view it). Everyone who is signed into SingStar has a profile called MySingStar. This feature allows you to edit your image(using either of the cameras), choose your nationality, add a comment and choose your favourite song. Another cool new feature is being able to add friends which is useful for keeping an eye on all their latest scores.

Also Online there is a Music Store. You can buy new songs, skins and useless wallpapers. Hopefully Sony will keep updating this list frequently and we will see some more songs added to the Store soon. There is also an option for a Song Pack were you can buy a number of set songs (you can’t choose them) which work out cheaper.

With this beauty you will receive quality picture. I would definitely recommend this one over the EyeToy. This is only compatible with PS3 though.

This one is the second option if you don’t have a PlayStation Eye. This does the same job as the other one but not as good quality. This was originally made for EyeToy Play 1, 2 and 3.

Overall SingStar is a great game but not recommended for everyone. The only bad thing I found was the lack of Wireless Microphones. Hopefully we might see that in the next SingStar. This SingStar game is way better than any other Karaoke game like High School Musical but still could have some improvements in the future. SingStar is a very unique game that has not been seen on any of the Next Gen. Consoles. Hopefully this will get your Mum, Dad, Brothers, Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, Grandpas, Cousins, 2nd Cousins, 3rd Cousins, Long Lost Cousins........ up and grooving .

Graphics: 10/10 HD Video Clips Rock!
Gameplay: 8/10 Good Modes to choose from
Sound: 9/10 If you have decent speakers
LifeSpan: 8/10 Should last quite a long time if they keep updating the Store.
Overall: 8/10 Love this Game.
