Civilization Revolution - 8/10

Sid Mier through Microprose relesed the first Civilization game on PC in 1991. It became an instant classic and has had 3 sequels on the PC, with the latest being Civ 4 in 2006. Developed by Firaxis games and designed by Sid Meir, this is the games first foray into the world of consoles.
Gameplay. The game is a turn based, not real time, so you never feel under presure, and gives the game a relaxed leisurely feel. Players can pick one of 16 different leaders, each with their own unique advantages and disadvantages. The object of the game in a nutshell, is to dominate the world in 1 of 4 ways. Economic, culture, science or by wiping every other Civ off of the map. You start the game with one warrior type(varies from civ to civ) unit and 1 settler. You build your first city and from that you can research new technologies, build land or sea based units and more settlers. The game spans time, from prehistoric, through to the future. 5 levels of diffculty are available to be played. Learning how to play has never been easier, with great tips and tutorials, available on the easiest difficulty. Old hands at the game, fear not, because at the hardest levels, this game is still as complex and hard to win as its PC cousin.
Multiplayer. You can play a normal ranked or unranked game on the net or a new feature called game of the week. Basically every week firaxis, releases a map, and every one plays it from the same starting point, and the same Civ as everyone else and is ranked on a scoreboard depending on how well you your civ has done. You can play this at all 5 difficulties.
Graphics 9/10 great new animations very pleasing on the eyes and look out for the fantastic nuke bomb effects.
Sound 9/10 great use of Dolby 5.1 in this game.
gameplay 8/10 Fans of the series might not appreciate what has been left out from the pc series.
Replayability 10/10 with 16 Civs and randomly generated maps, plus the rumour of downloadable content, this game want go stale quickly.
