Silent Hill: Homecoming Unbanned

Australia has a had a run of banned games which have been refused classification recently including Fallout 3 and F.E.A.R. 2, which was subsequently unbanned following an appeal. Throw Silent Hill: Homecoming into the mix and it's clear why gamers are fed up with the OFLC (the Australian classification body). These three games all have one thing in common, that they have all been granted a classification and effectively unbanned.

Silent Hill: Homecoming was initially banned in September 2008. The Classification Board's website now lists the title with an MA15+ rating, the highest classification available in Australia for videogames.

Atari has commented stating that revisions were made to meet the criteria for an MA15+ rating. We'll have more details shortly on what has been changed and/or omitted.

Rumour has it that the revised version of Silent Hill: Homecoming will be released in Australia in February.

Honestly I didn't see that much wrong with the game that could warrant a banning or R18+ rating (if we had one

But that's just me. Maybe I've become too desensitized to violence? (now I know that's not true. I can't even watch those work place safety ads *cringes* )

Then just don't play it. Seriously, if there's a game I don't like I just don't play it. Why ruin it for other people?

I think every game that is released everywhere else in the world should be released in Aus uncut, IMO, everytime I hear of a game being cut or "denied classification" (read: banned), I just think that we're some sort of lower class citizens and don't deserve to see this game on our shelves.

Any of these sort of 'edited' games i'll buy overseas thanks.. I mean where the hell is an R18+ classification? If they're worried about kids looking at 'offending' game cases of higher classification whilst their picking games at G level.. then maybe we should hide away M15+ games? pfft come on.. this is just silly.. get R18+ class already!
