News \ Fimware 2.4 Offical Walkthrough (Part 1: The XMB)
After weeks of rumours, speculation then confrimation Sony via the playstation blog has today shown the first official footage of "in-game" XMB. That is set to come with the 2.4 firmware update.
The video presented by Eric Lempel Director of PlayStation Network Operations. Shows that pressing the PS button on your PS3 controller will overlay the XMB over what ever game you are currently playing. This allows you to access your friends list, change your PS3's setting and even play music off your HDD.
The video mentions that this will work the majority of PS3 software but they have yet to give a full list of what will and won’t support these new features.
There was no mention of a release date for 2.4 but rumours are pointing to it being released around the same time as the E3 Media and Business Summit. Which starts on the 17 of July.
The second part to the 2.4 firmware walkthrough will be coming in the next few days showing off the trophy feature. So keep your eye's on the Playstation blog for that.

Well I hate to jump ship based on video but I think this is basically going to do all the stuff from the Xbox 360 that I miss, and it seems a lot less clunky than the in game blade..... may I preemptively say **** you microsoft?
