Looks like Australia will be the guinea pig market for the HD Play TV
uk only has the sd version and we are getting the hd version in october

no such thing as a HD & SD version , it will be exactly the same, they say the UK version is SD because the UK dont have HD TV yet nut the Play TV box can get HD signal & record HD. There will be no doubt a update to software which will be available online & proberly already on the disc that will come with the Play TV, this Im positive about, even thou some people continue to doubt it.

We get HD in Australia with PlayTV because Australia uses MPEG2 for SD and HD. The UK uses MPEG2 for SD and MPEG4 for HD.

Ill continue to enjoy my PlayTV that I imported for $120, which will be the exact same as the Aussie release PlayTV while others can wait til October & pay $200, the only real advantage to waiting is that you will be able to return it to a shop if you have any dramas.

Are the files transferable? I have a WD TV that plays pretty much all formats and currently record TV via my Media Centre and my iceTV account in .ts. Would consider selling it for the PlayTV box if it could do that. Somehow I doubt it as some of the HD shows I record for 4 or 5 hours are huge files.

Pretty sure you can use an external hard drive as well if u dont have a bigger hard drive on ur ps3. not 100% sure tho

not within the PlayTV program, would need to export the file to external HDD & do all that on PC, files must be under 2gb to be transferred.

well i guess there no promising anything really, but like crazynites said you can always return it if it doesnt...im still on the edge with this or a TV capture card just to make things easy with exporting etc, because i herd you have to convert the movies when you export them from Play TV is that true?
