Yuck. Hardly the best day. How do you know it's the best day if you've never been?
Oaks Day is OK, but the best day throughout the whole carnival is Cox Plate or Melb Cup.
Derby is probably the most prestigious, but too many people.
Oaks is too many bogans, even though it's meant to be "ladies" day.
Cox Plate is great because it's not as busy and Moonee Valley is a gorgeous course. Caulfield Cup is also better.
Melb Cup can't be beaten for crowd though. Awesome day.
Of all the Flemington meets, I'd say:
1. Melb Cup
2. Derby
3. Oaks
4. Stakes

Gaetano said: Yeah Oaks day is like that. It was great about 6-7 years ago when the crowd didn't get as big, but the last few years it's been real packed. It's good to a degree, but general admin is a shambles. A big meat market. Members area is the way to go. I'll be in there tomorrow (hopefully...if my sister doesn't use my ticket, which I stupidly promised to her before deciding I wanted to go)
