I have had trouble with a couple of PS2 games saving to the virtual memory card (games that were reported to run perfectly on ps3). Hopefully this is what is 'fixed'.

Now I can finally play Phantasy Star Universe ... Hopefully

WiiMan says:

They've put it up on the Aussie PS3 site already:

au.playstation.com/

NOTE: To take advantage of these new features please update both your PSP and PS3 if you own both machines.

PS3 ver.1.70 & PSP ver.3.40

• You can now download PlayStation® format software from PLAYSTATION®Store, and play it on the PS3™ system. (PS3 ver1.70 and PSP 3.40)

• You can now use saved data for PlayStation® format software both on the PS3™ and PSP™ system. (PS3 1.70 and PSP 3.40)

• You can now use the vibration function of accessories that are for use with PlayStation®2 format software. (PS3 1.70 only)

Apparenlty there is also new PSP firmware to go with it. Hopefully they will be putting some games up on our store this week.

pezza says:

So if you've got the PS3/PSP setup, you can take your PSone game with you and continue playing it on the run, so to speak. I like where they're going with this.

useless update I wanted Gran Turismo 4 to work

WiiMan says:

In the US they have been able to download PS1 games off the store since it launched, but you could only play them on your PSP.

Now you can play them on both PSP & PS3, the only problem is we don't have any on our store.

Hmm i was kinda expecting some more features ?

DVD upscaling ? PS2 Upscaling ? Improved Compat ? lol even change the background... add a picture lol.

Well will try when i get home, guess the PS1 to PSP is limited to packages from the store only and not my original PS1 discs ?

peace all

There's nothing exciting about it...Being around 100Mb I expected the update to bring things like upscaling. *sigh* common Sony bring on the UPSCALING!!

Also there's no PSOne games in the Aus PS store.

what a useless patch (for the most part, especially since its 100 odd mbs..)

Doesnt the PS3 upscale normal DVD's? Does the samsung blueray play upscale them??

05/08/2007 Planet Earth, New New York

WiiMan says:

The PS3 doesn't upscale DVDs YET, but it should be added via an update further down the line.

I doubt that SONY want it to upscale at the moment as they are trying to promote blu ray.

The Samsung BD-P1000 does upscale dvd's to 1080p/1080i/720p.
