The PlayStation 3 of 2009 - 10/10
It's not so easy to sum up the Playstaion 3's work in one year, but I'm here to attempt it.

The Journey 2007 - 2008
As you all may have known, the Playstation 3 had a bit of a rocky start, due to it's high prices on the market, SONY had trouble competing with the other two next generation consoles. Playstation 3, having the late start gave it's competitive cousin, the XBOX 360 an early start to grab on the big third party companies, as the XBOX's hardware was produced first.
But SONY did have faith in the PS3 and their newly elected president of SONY Worldwide Studios in 2008, Shuehi Yoshida, quoted:
"Moving forward I'm totally confident that developers will start to use more from the PlayStation 3 platform. This year is the year of parity, next year is the year of differentiation in favour of the PS3 platform,"
With this saying of encouragement, the third party developers finally trusted SONY. This was a sign of the PS3's comeback, and it had only just begun.

New Face
On the 18th of August 2009, SONY released their new and improved PlayStation 3. Much like they did with the PlayStation 2, this new PS3 was much slimmer, and 1.5kg lighter. This model was a success and made it to the top of the market in just under 24 hours. Sony also revealed their new logo, now the PlayStation 3 was basically a whole new console.
The Reality 2009
SONY were determined to totally rename the face of the PS3 after it's 'Top 21 tech screwups of 2006' Sony at first seemed to be slacking off in 2009, but the second half of 2009, showed that SONY had everything planned all along.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
This game may not be the best of games out there, but it certainly made an impact to the PS3's reputation. Scoring an amazing score of 9/10 on IGN.com, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time was named one of the best Ratchet games of all time.
Killzone 2
2009 was the year of the long awaited game, first announced at E3 2005. Killzone 2. Not only were the fans confident about this, but so were the competitors. Everyone waited for this game hoping it would praise the PS3 and start off it's 'rebirth' to the gaming world. Which it did, shocking the world with it's outstanding performance and scoring a whopping 9.4/10 on IGN.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
But don't worry, SONY weren't done yet. Two months before the release of Killzone 2, a game not everyone was familiar of, Uncharted, announced they were going to make a sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Not much was expected to come from it, but when the first screens came from the game, everyone was thinking game of the year already... And I'll tell you, they were pretty accurate on that.
As the exclusive's flowed on, the PlayStation 3's reputation rose rapidly.
Awards
As 2009 ended, SONY couldn't be any more happier with PS3's performance this year. With many of their games winning numerous awards, not to mention Uncharted 2: Among Thieves getting game of the year! Games like Killzone 2 were all nominated for awards and their developers were proud of their efforts. What's even better is that this is the second year in a row the PS3 has won Game of the Year for Gamespot. The PlayStation 3 hasn't hit it's peak yet, with many more titles to come.
The Year to Come 2010
With 2009 being an outstanding year for SONY, 2010 seems to be just as good. With many high anticipated games including MAG, Final Fantasy XIII and not to forget God of War III (Winning most anticipated game of 2009)
There is no doubt that SONY's efforts finally pulled through the threshold and broke the PS3's curse. SONY really do deserve the praise they are getting now, and deserve as much more as PS3 are set to take the spotlight again in 2010.
