what the program does - you download a 'work unit' which is only a 1-10MB in size at the start, and your PS3 works on this unit for approx 8hrs, then it packs up the work unit and sends the results back to Stanford Uni.
these results have to be completed within 3-5 days otherwise they are useless (the project has to move forward with its results) expiry date type thing, so if you do fold, just maybe leave it on overnite one nite a week or whatever you see fit, rather than 1 hour a day which will result in a useless result.
So it only uses internet at start and at end = minimal use. What it does use more of is power from the wall socket, to offset the power used by my computer, i turn off a couple more lights at home when not in use. I'm also in the process of signing up to green energy from origin energy.
