Sorry if there's already a general Fallout 3 thread, damn search.

Does the storyline take after the other Fallout games? Or will I be able to buy this one and understand the storyline?


Also, I have never really been a big RPG fan. Not that I don't like them, just never really played them. I really, really liked STALKER on PC. Is Fallout 3 anything like that? Will I like it?

And if you don't know if you'll like fallout 3, watch some gameplay videos and read some hands-on impressions.

This I know. I'm looking for some gamer opinions on what they know about the game, not just journalists.

I'm also not a big RPG fan so I'm just not sure...

It sounds like you're a fan so...Do I need to know the story of 1 and 2 to play 3?

definitely not. the story is basically a mystery from the begining. You're on a quest to find out what happened to your dad, where he has gone, why he left vault 101... there are many different endings depending on what you do (or don't do) in the game.

My opinion of the game is that I'm not 100% convined but I was really interested in it 6 months + ago but since then my interest has really turned to lbp and restisance 2 for oct and start of november. I'll prob get it but like you, I don't know too much about it, even from watching gameplay footage.

they are set in the same world, so playing them will give you a better understanding of some of the cameo's and throwbacks to the old games. But the story will be completely new and separate from Fallout 1 and 2.

you suck. it didnt get hyped up because of that. and i am REALLY surprised at the lack of people who played fallout and fallout 2.

your lack of knowledge on what the impact fallout has on gaming is amazing since you started playing games from 6.

I played Fallout 1 & 2 as well as Brotherhood of Steel (or wever it was called, more of a tactical game newayz...). I also ran an RPG based in the Fallout universe (as a Pen & Paper game)...

Really looking forward to this release! It was leaked on 360 today!

My mate said that playasia has (in the past) had the game arrive to customes on day of release.
