Please god, please say it's so. Playstation 2 backwards compatibility is all but gone for new PS3 owners, which includes myself. No doubt there are more PS3 owners out there with a Playstation 3 console with an inability to play PS2 games. My PS2 is now a wreck of a console, too big and too ugly to have out in my lounge room.
John Koller, director of hardware marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America, has told GamePro that Sony are "absolutely interested" in bringing full PS2 downloads to the PSN.
He also goes on to discuss that future film and TV rentals, such as Netflix, are probably doubtful for the future, citing that users might see confusion without owning the content.
So what do we think? Granted, plenty of PS3 owners have either a PS2-compatible console or a PS2 console they're willing to pull out to play their PS2 games on, but what about those of us with a broken PS2 console, or a hatred or inability to want the console out in view in your lounge room? Or, perhaps some people don't own a PS2 at all yet still want to experience some of the games many masterpieces like Ico or God of War.
