Sony Expecting Killzone 2, to outperform Metal Gear Solid 4

Sony has told that they are expecting the upcoming title by Guerrilla Games, Killzone 2, to either match or even pass Hideo Kojima's anticipated title, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

The anticipated title Metal Gear Solid 4 may be the cause of many sales to the Playstation 3, although it is also expected that Killzone 2 can surpass the multi-platform title, Grand Theft Auto IV

Recently a Sony spokesperson had stated:

It would be a lie to say Sony has not invested heavily in Killzone 2 and each individual at Guerrilla games has worked even harder to satisfy any expectations kept by the company and their loyal community. I do see the game breaking a barrier with a huge variety of groups and expect it to see sales as good as Metal Gear Solid 4 if not beyond it.

Not an easy task to do. MGS4 is a masterpiece as well as GTA IV. It will need to be one of the best FPS games ever made imo.

not sure if it will do it, MGS4 is over 4 million already (it's undertracked by vgchartz) but that said, it's possible...like gdmatt said it will need to be one of the best FPS games.

Maybe not exceed sales made by MGS4, but will come damn close. I brought my PS3 for KZ2. I would have already brought one anyway, but it was a big incentive.

lold that statement GTA IV masterpice, ok then?!!!!!!

And yeah I hope it does, even though its a big statement it would be great for the console if KZ2 can perform as good as they hope.

I don't think sony should pin all there first quarter hopes on killzone. It may be a good game but I just don’t think it has mass market appeal. From what I played of the beta its way to clunky and complex for your average Halo or COD fan

How clunky and complex longarms, what would you compare it too? I thought sony and guerilla would of made this game so it can be played by masses! Because if they are expecting huge sales then obviously a lot of gamers will be able to enjoy it.

if you are used to playing games like COD or R2 the killzone controls take some getting used to.

Though the can be changed they default to having the iron sights on R3(clicking the right stick) which is not easy to use.

There are a lot of other things too, but I wont list them all. It just seems like a game that a lot of people are just going to get frustrated with and not enjoy. Though hopfully I'm wrong.

Keep dreaming on Sony. There's no way that it'll break GTA IV sales. I never liked Killzone 1 so I really hope this game becomes a huge flop. Sorry Killzone fans but I really wish this game becomes a huge flop and disappointment.

i assume that they mean ps3 sales for GTA IV, and not total sales (accross platforms). If its half as good as i'm hearing it should sell well, i see it having a better mass market appeal than MGS4, i mean who doesn't love a shooter

It's definitely not impossible and if any PS3 exclusive can do it, it will be either Killzone 2 of Gran Turismo 5.

Having said that, i dont think KZ2 will outsell MGS4.
