What's the general consensus on MC: LA?

(Midnight Club Los Angeles for the silly)

So what is everyone's opinion on it? I think it has the best driving mechanics of any racer this gen, and the city of LA is gorgeous in it.

But I think a lot of people were initially turned off by the difficulty, and it lost a lot of its core fans. I was speaking to some of my mates today, all of which said they didn't like it and preferred NFS.

Now I ask: are my friends idiots (most likely they are anyway) or was it just not that accessible? I understand that there was a patch to smooth out the frustrating difficulty (even I got annoyed sometimes at the challenge), but I can appreciate if someone was turned off by its high difficulty when it first came out.

Whenever i asked people if I should buy this game, they told me wait for GT5.

Honestly i have never tried it, i do love racing games and don't own a single one on current gen consoles.. would you recommend this one? and is it free roam in L.A. or something like that?

I liked it was my fave racing game of last year I finished it before the difficulty patch came out . I recommend it because it has custom soundtracks, the free roam is awesome and if you sign up your PSN online at Rockstar social club (same place as GTA4) you can unlock the Audi R8 & Hydraulics.

i enjoyed it very good racing game...yeah the difficult is hard and fustrating but thats the beauty of it.... i like the mechanics of the game pretty much drives like a real car....i havent purchased the DLC just as yet cause too many games to play.... ...

Bad game, too far towards arcade. As far as game mechanics, no this is terrible. Ive been going around a corner, and a car just appears in my way. it wasnt there before. The game cheats, it is too hard. i dont mind hard as long as it is fair.
I did like the cars, and customisation, but the racing just spoiled it for me.

I thought it sucked. The previuos game was fantastic and i expected a lot from this and was disamapointed. Great graphics and sounds decent car handling, but stupid and repetative racing. Save your money and get burnout paradise city instead.
