Does anyone know why im getting a "no applicable data" sign regarding my USB with the update in it? i tried with just it on USB, in a folder by itself and it just isnt working. It is the 2.42 .PUP FILE update at 130MB but it just wont work on the PS. Any help appreciated as its about to be thrown through the window.

okay here goes....
make sure your usb flash drive is formatted to FAT32. if it's formatted to NTFS, your ps3 probably won't recognise the folders/files.
i had the same problem. i knew the folders were ok (ie PS3/UPDATE/latest pup file) but it just wouldn't work. i reformatted my usb flash pen to FAT32 (it was NTFS) and it worked first time 
worth a try. let me know if it works for you

What do u guys think should be added in the next update??? me personally iam hoping either ipod support or XMB overiding all games to play user music.

I doubt either will likely to occur to be honest.
Probably because of RAM for the 2nd suggestion.
I just want in-game web browser, some kind of screenshot feature, and ability to schedule downloads to start at 3am for example.
And maybe a "turn off PS3 after downloads complete". Even the Xbox 360 has this feature.

The PS3 'technically' does have an auto "turn off function" via Folding@Home.

ive been having this proplem since update 2.42
i cant use ingame xmb
well i can but every i do it freezes and therefore i have to reset my ps3
and also when i turn my ps3 sometimes nothin comes up the setting part of the xmb comes up but nothin else
any1 else expierenced this ,

I'm hoping for a feature where shutdown can be triggered when all activate downloads have been completed i.e. downloading and pending

there not that interesting but when home comes out they might be a currency for items and if you get a platinum you get something special from that game to out in your house.

This is for Japanese systems ONLY people. Nothing will screw up, but thats why it doesnt prompt you to download when you connect to the store or something. It's not necessary.

Just dl it anyway, as it won't stuff up your console.
if you manually initiate a firmware update by clicking on “System Update” under the XMB’s Settings icon, the v2.43 update will be available, regardless of where you are located.
