Fifa 09 - 9/10
Summary
The newest game to join the most popular football franchise. All of the improvements work brilliantly and it seems EA have listened to all of the feedback on the few bad points of Fifa 08.
This game easily out-strips PES 09 and all other soccer ever made. Even though it is good the AI defenders are stupid and changing players is frustrating.
New Features
EA Sports have been telling us for months that they have made this game better than Fifa 08, which I found hard to believe. But after playing the game it is obvious that the game runs better and plays better. The shooting and passing have been given a touch-up as have the graphics [especially the crowd and stadiums.] The Be A Pro season mode is brilliantly done with you working up from your club reserves to the captain of your country. Also the Adidas Live Season is a nice touch with players stats improving depending on how they play in real life. Custom tactics and custom formations have made it easier to make your team play how you want them to.
Offline Play
The offline play is focused around the exceptional Manager Mode and new Be A Pro Season Mode(We got a taste of this on Fifa 08.) In Manager Mode you basically manage and play as any team in the world. This is the original style of offline play and is very enjoyable. The good thing is all the rosters includes all of the tournaments making it fell like you really are managing your club. In Be A Pro Season Mode you control one player who you can create or choose your favourite from the team. This is very good idea and is executed beautifully with your reputation increasing or decreasing depending on how you play. In each game you have three objectives to complete. If you do these you get more exp to spend on your player. The problem is that you can only do a career for four years which is quite annoying. The other annoying thing is that all the exp you spend on your player does not count in others things such as manager mode and kick off.
Online Play
Online play involves features such as classic one on one, 10v10 and the Fifa Interactive World Cup. One on one is where you can play anyone from around the world in a match in the same style as manager mode. In 10v10 you use the concept of Be A Pro and team up with nine other people and take on the ten more people, with everyone controlling one player(except the keeper.) This is extremely fun and strangely satisfying if you win. The frustrating thing is that if you have a bad team you will probably lose no matter how good you are. So it really is a team game. The Fifa Interactive World Cup is fun, challenging and can lead you to international glory.
Value
This is one of the best games on the PS3 and is a great game for anyone who likes sport games.
