WarHawk is Unleashed - 9/10
With the release of WarHawk on the PSN worldwide, there may be a few people who have trouble (as I did) figuring out what the hell to do.
So included here,
www.us.playstation.com/ is the Manual in PDF format so that everyone can get into the game alot quicker.
But anyway, my first experience with Warhawk left me a bit dazed and confused. I had a bit of trouble getting used to the controls and due to the lack of a tutorial I just pressed each button (dying numerous times) until I figured out what everything was. That said, there is an option dialogue that will tell you the buttons, and its good to have a look, but best to get into the game and get the feel for it.
Now the gameplay is very similar to the old Battlefield 1942's, Vietnams, etc, but in 3rd person. You can drive Tanks, Jeeps, operate Flak cannons and missile turrets, and fly the almighty WarHawks.
The flying is by far the best fun, with very responsive controls. You use the right thumb stick to spin and twirl, while the left stick directs where you want to go. You pick up different kinds of missiles and upgrades to use as you fly around which makes for a good bit of extra versatility.
The ground combat is also good. Nothing like picking up a rocket, locking onto a Hawk and popping him out of the sky! The jeeps are good cos you can have two other players on with you utilizing the machine gun on the back, but the passenger has to just sit there like Helen Keller, "No talking or moving!"
Tanks are a very strong force, capable of shooting down a Hawk if you have your eye in.
The graphics are very good considering its a 789MB game download. Even not considering that they are pretty bloody good, just not up to the usual PS3 standard. But this game is for online mass killing fun, not to milk out some visual orgasms.
It has a very good HUD and the map looks pretty sweet especially in the Zone matches, where you must take certain zones and corral your enemy to the end of the map.
