By all rights, they should cut their losses and sell the slim for no more than $400... its called being competitive.

God dammit. Another one crawls out from under a rock for crying out loud. Ok, im going to explain this slooowwly. The US price, for starters, does not include tax. They pay more at the checkout than the $299.95, our prices do include all taxes. Secondly, the basic laws of 'buying in bulk' apply country-wide too. The general gaming population of the US is higher than our entire population, hence why they can break up the price of transporting, importing and distributing amongst a much bigger gaming population, therefore reducing the price (just like buying in bulk with anything else in life, you buy more, you pay less). Sending units all the way to Australia, factoring in our import taxes, then dividing those distribution costs among out tiny gaming population (by comparison) and we will obviously have to pay more. Once you take in those 2 facts, you can see what we pay more (and not a lot more since when you add up to 10% at a US checkout, it could be as high as US$330).
