PSN Working Again, Games Playable
Everything went horribly wrong yesterday when the older "phat" models of the PS3 seemingly crashed due to an error with the internal clock. There was an issue with the PS3 not recognizing February 28 as the last day of the month. This sent everything into chaos and users found that the date had been changed to either 31/12/1999 or 1/1/2000, they had lost trophies, and couldn't play a range of games either on or offline. The good news is the worst seems to be over.
PSN is back up and running this morning, and all PS3 units should now be able to play games. There's no magical firmware update, the problem should fix itself.
All lost trophy data should be recovered. If you find you're still missing some launch the game in question and it should re-sync the trophies to your PSN account. Please let us know if this doesn't work for any games below.
We do not yet know if there will be any long term damage as a result of the crash. PS3 Slim consoles were not affected.
