It's not so good for the guys, though I strongly suspect they'll get due recompense through the legal system. You just can't be that big a part of something so hugely successful and then not paid - that part will turn out just fine.
Better, though, might be how we, as people so often behave after being treated badly - we don't get mad, but we do get even, and that may bade well for us as gamers, when they do align themselves with whomever, be that EA or another, in the form of creating & releasing the game of all games, whatever that may be.
It may work out very well for everyone but Activision.
