News \ E3 2008 - Media Download Service Launched

At Sony’s E3 2008 press conference, it was announced that the companies long awaited video download service is ready to launch. Many film studios are onboard, including Fox, MGM, Lionsgate, Warner, Disney, Paramount and Turner. This service includes movies and TV. All material download will also be able to be transferred to your PSP.

Pricing was given for the US service, which, to the surprise of the audience in attendance, launches tonight in the US. No Australian release or prices were given.

The service will allow users to search through each film studio and choose either SD or HD content. During the presentation, the details for a SD version of Dewey Cox were shown, which was 1.5 GB in size. According to the presenter, a 2-hour SD movie would normally take 1 hour to download.

The service looks set to challenge Microsoft’s own TV and movie downloading service on the 360, with the PSN’s service allowing functionality with the PSP.

i was hoping of Home everyone on the live chat was like 5 minutes ahead of the one i was watching they all said home in going to be up tonight etc got me upset. When they said one last announcement i was like woot here we go the game looks alright but i would prefer an rpg.
