I've also requested that programs like PlayTV can have their auto program scheduled recording features do things like automatically quit folding.. record show.. then go back to what it was doing beforehand.. (folding).

This would cover my needs atleast

well i am still CONSTANTLY getting 250 points for all of my units crazynites mate you have caught up 8,000 points on me in about what? 3 weeks, if that?

all i want is to overtake liam before you overtake me buddy, so i can have that no. 4 spot back again....if only for a moment haha

anyway ive installed the SMP client version onto my laptop (using the links wutang posted a few pages back: www.stanford.edu/

wiki.digital-digest.com/ )
, even though im not sure its up to the challenge, being a centrino duo 1.6 or something, running xp, with 1g ram and integrated*shudder* graphics mem hopefully this might just get me over the line

yeah its looking like it...33 minutes for 1% so roughly 52.5 hours per unit!...but i leave it on 24-7 anyways so it should be sweet

do i need to leave the net connected for when its due to get the next unit? also in the config, setting the priroty to idle or low, which is the better idea? im not sure what they both mean...

edit - took nearly an hour to do a couple of the steps, plus i left it off for nearly 12 hours today by accident *doh*, so it might be a photo finish.....it's a 4-day deadline......

The folding my computer is doing now, seems different ...

I use to be able to do 5000 steps in 10 or 11 minutes, but now it's taking 14 to 15 minutes for every 5000 steps!

Edit: Disregard this post, my computer is folding 5000 steps per 10 minutes again now

Without reading this whole thread (i've read most of it), how do you change your unit sizes. Mine are all around 250 points and take around 4 hours.

how come crazynites has caught up to me 8,000 points in 2 months then, maybe even less! unless he's running it on pc, multiple versions even....hmmm, have to check that out

p.s. - phew, i made it back into 4th spot before crazy passed me, woohoo. now i'll just savour it for a while, maybe take a picture, it'll last longer!

edit - wb xads, ur ps3 was busy elsewhere huh?

double edit - WOOHOO my first SMP WU finished, and i got nearly 2000 points for it! go the limping lappie

PS3s by themselves as a group have gone back above 1 Petaflop of computing power! A few issues has meant that less work units were getting done and thus less total equivalent processing power.. but we're above it again now.. keep pushing guys! haha

yeh as long as the 'net is connected when the work unit exchange (upload completed/download new) takes place your fine.
priority - dont worry bout this.. leave it at default idle.. low will not really make it fold any better but may result in noticeable drop in performance/responsiveness of your computer. It was intended to be only used say if you have another 'distributed computing' application running such as SETI@Home (E.T. search) so that folding@home gets priority.. but really is no longer needed as an option and will probably be dropped in the next program revision.

Different Work Units take different times to complete the same amount of frames and also have different total number of frames to complete. Also depends on how your using your computer at the time.. u might be busy on it.. so it slows a bit then speeds up again when ur away from it.

The Stanford servers decide what Work Unit you get.. many variables... Best to post on the Folding Community Forum to get better info tho - foldingforum.org/ or read the FAQs on the homepage.

If your gunna set your PS3 to advanced mode, i suggest you only do so if you regularly complete atleast 1 work unit a day if not 2. Its very easy to get caught out with deadlines in advanced mode.. so its probably almost best to leave it to 24/7 guys unless you are prepared to monitor it good.

Shadowblades probably right.. They might be focusing on those projects heavily at the moment and it might change later.. just a guess.
