Far Cry 2 - 9/10

Far Cry 2 (FC2 for short) is the first real sequel to the PC classic Far Crybut is set in a unknown place in Africa unlike Far Cry 1 which was set on a remote island. Far Cry 2 really isn't the sequel to Crytek's 2004 oringal, mainly because there is no mention at all about Jack Carver, and you have to chose a character at the beginning at the ones you don't chose will beome your buddies later in the game.



In Far Cry 2 your mission is plain and simple find The Jackal and kill himbut there is one little problem he is hunting you as well. The only way to find the Jackal is to do jobs for both the APR and UFLL, which can be a problem because these to sides are at war trying to take over Africa. Altogether there are 33 main missions and a heap of side missions and trophies to keep you entertained for a couple of monthes then you can fire up the multiplayer.



The most anouying thing about FC2 is that you have to travel so far for most missions if you fail you go rihg tback to your checkpoint but you don't always have to go to your objective instead you can go to one of your buddies and see if they have a better plan to tackle said mission but most of the time you wil have to travel even more and still have to do your objective set by the APR or UFLL.



The best thing about Far Cry 2 is the fire effects, they are totaly amazing and easily the best fire effects ever seen in a game to date. Another good aspect about FC2 is the easy to use map editor which is extremely easy to use and can produce some amazing maps if people put their mind to it. Once you finish making your map it will be become avablie to the public to re edit or play at the own will.



The multiplayer is pretty straight forward with classic multiplay modes such as:
Capture the Diamond, (Capture the Flag)
Deathmatch,
Team Deathmatch
and a new multiplayer mode called Uprising, which is a team mode which has a randomly selected captain and the captain has to capture all three base's and once one team has all three base's killing to opposing team captian will win them the game. When you get enough XP you get a diamond which can be used to level up your weapons class.



Overall Far Cry 2 is really impressive but really isn't the sequel some of us have been waiting for but FC2 is an amazing game and should be purchased if you are a FPS fan or you if liked Far Cry.
