Why Killzone 2 will rock!
Killzone 2 has infected the minds of most PS3 gamers for well over a year now and with the game so close to release, questions about its quality are starting to rise. Debate and discussion is filling most PS3 forums on teh interwebz and it seems like there is more negativity towards the game - mainly because of the lackluster original - than positivity.
That's where we come in. Even if Killzone 2 isn't as good as some of the previews are trying to lead us to believe, it's still going to kick us to the curb in some areas. Most of us have seen, some of us on-hand (at eGames) but few have actually played it. We haven't either, but we're just going to go ahead and assume why we think Killzone 2 is going to rock our jocks off. We've ignored the advice from out mum that "when you assume you make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'", so here's five reasons why we're excited for the upcoming FPS!
5. The best graphics, like, ever!
There have been demos galore and countless previews from publications, all of which have praised its presentation more than anything.
To be honest, watching the trailers make us want to break out into song and kiss the closest human being, purely out of excitement, even if they're the same sex and we're not gay...not that there's anything wrong with that!
From early videos and demonstrations, the lighting effects, weather transitions and overall environments look outstanding and we'll even go as far to say that this is the best looking Playstation 3 title to date!
4. AI that will own you till the cows come home
Not very often in a video-game do we see enemy AI react to the environment around them. It's easy for you to control the character into cover, but more often than not, the enemy will run straight at you, making it easy for you to simply pop up and shoot them to the death.
However, the AI in Killzone looks set to set a standard for the industry. The AI will take cover, take advantage of your disadvantages and move around the environment so as to get out of your line of fire, even if they're in cover.
The gameplay is one thing, but AI is such an integral part of the overall experience and we think that Killzone 2 will have the goods in that department.
3. Insane Multiplayer
With the recent news that Killzone 2 won't have co-op, you'd be excused if you became suddenly less excited at the prospect of playing Killzone 2 with your buddies.
But that really shouldn't matter. Call of Duty 4 is one of the best games this generation and it relied heavily upon a co-op-LESS multiplayer experience. With Killzone 2, there's the ability for 32-player team deathmatch, an awesome leveling up and weaponary system and a class system that is dictated by your skill. Couple this with countless previews that have claimed that Killzone 2 is extremely accessible and easy to play and you have a multiplayer experience that will probably blow us away!
2. Accessibility for the uber noobs out there
One of the greatest franchise of all time in Halo has reached its position among gaming's greatest because of its accessibility and pick-up-and-play multiplayer experience. Anyone can master a Halo game. The same can probably be said for Killzone 2. This isn't a shooter that is going to rely heavily upon tactics but rather your ability to go all out and blast your way through countless enemies. Anyone can do that, right!?
Accessibility is a very important factor in gaming. A title like Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't a game that any casual gamer can pick-up and it doesn't appeal to a wider audience. Killzone 2 is the complete opposite, set to offer gameplay that is easy yet challenging and incredibly fun.
1. Sexy weaponary
From an automatic pistol to the basic assault rifle, the weapons on Killzone 2 will blow us away (pun intended, of course!). The aiming has been refined from the original and early reports are that it's been perfected with most of the weapons, most noteable the laser eye sight on the assault rifle.
There's also the flamethrower which can burn down enemy cover and bring them out from hiding. What's even more encouraging is that Helghast can carry any of the weapons available to you, so it's definetly an even battlefield.
Killzone 2 is set for release in Australia on the 26th of February, 2008, exclusively for Playstation 3.
