30% of Gamers Didn't Play COD4 Single Player

COD4, did you play online only?

Earlier today we reported that Xbox 360 gamers have unlocked 2.5 billion Achievements. The same article on Gamasutra contained an interesting fact on how gamers were playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

While tracking the achievements unlocked in their game, developer Infinity Ward discovered that 30% of players did not play the singer player campaign at all in COD4. This data only contains information from Xbox Live, so it's most likely somewhat distorted as players who do not have their console online are not included in the data, and neither are PS3 players. Still, it's a large percentage of gamers forgoing the single player altogether in favour of the online experience.

no surprise at all. theres heaps of people who are only getting interested in gaming now more because of the social aspects of online gaming than anything else, i know heaps of them around my age. in their opinion gaming isnt really an individual activity

I guess you're right. Nothing beats chatting via mic/headset and playing.

Im not surprised at all, the game was made for online, I didnt really care for the story either, Only played through it once when bought it just to get used to the controls

Ahh i guess its a personal preference, but yeah i always play throu the story first and then take the game online. Reason for that is i think its cool to one see the story and two get used to the controls so you dont get killed every 5 secs online;) But then i guess some ppl are just heaps better at games than i am, they dont need the experience?

I like the storyline and it was fun to play...much more fun than the online in my experience. Plenty of variety of gameplay in the story mode...and the sniper mission was totally awesome man!

I mainly buy games for the story mode, online is second for me and not mandatory on my list.

WTF ! the game developers (Infinity Ward) spen heaps of hours of making that single player. Shame on u to the 30% people who didn't play the story. P.S if COD online multiplayer games r so good why not make a COD game online only like SOCOM for example.

yeah, i mean personally i played through single player at least 3 times, and i love all different styles of solo games as well as the multiplayers......but there are heaps of new gamers that just dont play solo at all & just go straight online.

im doing everything i can to get well enough to go back online by the time mw2 comes out, thats gonna be the kutagrouse/coup de grais

COD4 had a good story with a great sad ending that made me cry (when Cpt Price died) *wipes tears* and if u play the end u will see the a sneak peek of the new MW2 game from the game epilogue.

I don't think I'm good enough for online yet. I haven't played all that many FPS'. MGS4 was partially FPS and I've played a bit of Halo, but still...I think I'd just suck at multiplayer

Got CoD4 on Friday and I've done the single player mode twice >.<

the best way to improve your online skills is to play online. AI just dont play the same as the humans do.....not at all.

put it this way, all you will learn from practising in single player is how to aim & shoot and get used to the controls. you will get all the tactical experience from going online and seeing where everyone goes, what paths they all travel, etc. if you seem to keep dying in a certain spot, you can figure out how to do that to other people.....experience is definitely the best teacher

it will be brutal at first. a heck of alot of people know this game back to front and sideways now, but if you persist you will get pretty handy in due time

Ive never played single player other then when ive accidently clicked on it when i was trying to go multi player lol and i dont plan on ever playing it. Only played W@W campaign for the trophies and zombie mode.

Play multi player mate, gotta live a little and trust me ull get better after playing it a bit.
