MyPS3 Christmas Wish List

As gamers, we can all admit one thing; Christmas is generally jackpot time. It's the one time when you can ask for a game as a present and not get the "Oh, are you sure you want that" response. However, this time of year deems to be the most difficult for the gamer, as the sales see game prices plummit and the increase in consumer buying see the shelves overflow with great titles. So how does one know what game to choose? How do you choose which game/s are worthy of the Christmas hype and are certain to generate that fantastic Christmas-morning feel when you open it up on Christmas morning? Well, that's why we're here. We're here to help you pick out which games you need to beg your family members for, or which games you're going to spend your JB Hi-Fi voucher on. Here is a list of 10 XBOX 360 titles that must be on your XMAS list.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Uncharted is one of those games that incorporates fantastic platforming elements with great third-person shooting and excellent combat. The environments are superb, the voice-acting is sublime and it's one of the must-haves for Playstation 3 owners this Christmas.

Folklore

Mixing RPG elements with action-adventure, Folklore is a unique RPG title and Playstation 3 exclusive that is heavy on story, presentation and action. Any PS3 owners looking for an RPG fix this Christmas should look no further than Folklore.

Resistance: Fall of Man

Still classified as one of the best FPS shooters available this generation, Resistance is an exciting, edge-of-your-seat shooter that brought the PS3 into the world and still stacks up with the great games of this gen. Resistance is to the Playstation 3 what Halo 3 is to the XBOX 360; you just ain't a true PS3 owner without this shooter in your collection.

Never has a music franchise had such an amazing influence on society. The Guitar Hero series is by far the most entertaining and deep music series ever created and with Guitar Hero III gamers have a chance to be a part of some of the greatest legends of rock in easily the best Guitar Hero game made.

What we said in our review:

The soundtrack is superb, the gameplay is improved and impressive, online is great, the boss battles are fun and the challenge is welcomed. If you haven’t yet gotten into GH, be sure to buy this third addition straight away - it plays better than its older brothers and it's a perfect introduction to the franchise.

Call of Duty 4

With the first three entrances into the Call of Duty series being based in WW II, it was a welcomned change to see the franchise go into a modern day battlefield with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The gameplay is more solid the previous entries and the presentation is top notch. Add on fantastic multiplayer and you have a must have for XBOX 360 owners.

What we said in our review:

The Call of Duty franchise has been successful transformed and COD 4 gives the franchise a badly needed facelift. It’s great in so many areas and exceeds all of its predecessors in almost all aspects. Its simple and fun gameplay, great graphics, sublime sound and fantastic multiplayer make it an absolute must-have for any Playstation 3 or XBOX 360 owner.

NBA 2K8

For many years there has been the constant debate as to what basketball title is the most realistic and offers the best gamelay. Well, as we moved into the next-generation, the NBA 2K series has consistently provided us with a great basketball-sim experience that looks and plays great. If you're looking for a basketball/sport fix these holidays, look no further than NBA 2K8.

What we said in our review

There shouldn't be any debate on which basketball sim to buy this year. If you're floating around Live and 2k8 for either your PS3 or 360, you really shouldn't go past this title.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction

Probably one of the best platformers available this gen, R&C is a funny, incredibly enjoyable and deep title that looks beautiful and plays wonderfully.

What we said in our review:

Perhaps the best in the series. The weapons, gameplay, humor, sound and lastability all make this a worth-while purchase for any Playstation 3 owner.

Skate

Finally, someone decided to make a game to compete against Activision and Tony Hawk. But, when everyone heard it would be EA, no one was overly excited about the project. That was until the previews and videos started to appear, and once Skate was released, it quickly overtook Tony Hawk as the preferred skateboarding game. Its unique take on gameplay, which is similar to the style that EA Sports uses in the Fight Night games, is what makes it so great and pushes the genre into a new direction and away from the simplistic button-mashing that is so accustomned to Tony Hawk titles.

Assassin's Creed

Often critised as being too repetitive and protentious, Assassin's Creed is a unique title that mixes sci-fi with ancient Middle-Eastern conflict. Its control system is amazing and a lot of fun, and the graphical presentation is at times breathtaking.

What we said in our review:

Altier’s combat is quite impressive. The whole thing plays out like a rhythm based flow of actions and once you master it, you’ll be pulling off moves that look great and put a smirk on your face. Smashing the hell out of your controller just isn’t the way to play this game, and that’s where the inventive mind of the title comes into play...you have an above average title that’s worth a look.

The Simpson's

With the hype of the movie gone and the series still continueing to provide laughter, The Simpson's needed something else to help propel it into greatness, ans that was a good video-game. In the past, The Simpson's games weren't much to write home about, though Hit N' Run was an enjoyable title. From EA, The Simpson's Game is easily the best game based on the yellow family and the title is something the entire family can get into. It's a fantastic platformer and even if you're not a fan of the television show, everyone will laugh at the humor in this game.
