GC: PS3 Slim Images

Along with the official announcement of the PlayStation 3 Slim from Sony we got the the first images of the actual slimline console. Rumoured images were leaked months ago, and we have to say they were pretty spot on.

The PlayStation 3 Slim will be released in Australia on September 3 for a RRP of $499.95.

That's awesome it's half the size and nearly $200 less then the 2nd beast I bought in April, it's really nice looking too my sister said she's going to get one eventually. Look out 360 a price cut is one thing that will even out the competition and get alot more 360 owners to buy both like me .

No black shine, no thanks. If you ask me, the slim version looks a bit cheap and very fragile. Plus, Sony is still lagging behind in sales, and releasing a slime version is pretty risky. However, Sony is lucky that they have a few upcoming games that everybody is highy anticipating about by this end of the year and the next.

I don't think Sony already released a slime PS2 almost two years after the phat version came out. I just hope this will just improve sales, otherwise expect the 360 fanboys make even more paper weight jokes.

It's not a portable console, taking it everywher you go. So ther shouldn't be a problem with fingerprints.

Unless you have smex with it or something...

I think its an improvement over the original but a lot of people have been saying it looks plastic, cheap and fragile which it does to be honest i suppose. I hate the phat model though, its such an eye sore unless stood on its end plus the shiny look of it makes it look cheap and tacky. Imo Sony had an ugly design in the first place with the phat and has just made it smaller. A whole new design for the slim would of been nice plus that 'PS3' logo on top is so ugly.

It's not too bad looking at all, better than the 'fake' one that's been going around for a while. (still a bit to wide though, compared to how the PS2 Slim was to the Phat PS2)

Old PS3 is also a very good dust collector and the PS3 slim looks sleak and sexy

from the pictures it doesnt seem to have a quick access panel to change the hard disk.

imo gloss piano looks more elegant, this plastic version look rather cheap but who knows, in real life it might look better.

looks like it also not design to be in a stand position.

I'm quite shocked from one aspect to see this so early in the next gen age. Then again? I can see the cheaper price tag, I can see the sales for Sony surging. People have been whinging about the price since the PS3 came out. This should answer their wishes.

Great for sales which means more money to spent on making games, the more the better, I won't be buying one, my 60GB looks far more sexy to me. This is going to get very interesting in the months to come, and because of this new slim......

looks abit dull, i reckon add shine,touch button, some chrome bording and a better lively logo that stands out instead of "PS3" that seem to camouflage with the top cover.

Who cares what it looks like, as long as it works. Sony should have brought this out ages ago, they then might have got those tight asses who brought these cheap **** XBOX's to by a PS3.
I traded in my 40GB ps3 and a few games I don't play and only had to pay a another $30. I will never get rid off my 60GB ps3 I still think thats the best one by far.

You know the first time I saw this i thought "UGLY AS ALL ****" - but now... it kinda grows on you. I quite like the look of it now to be honest. Takes a day or two, but I found it doesnt look as bad as I initially thought. Just got one of those designs you kinda have to get used to seeing. Not as nice as the original, but still... yeah, its not bad looking.
