Yup, I heard the ending goes for like an hour nearly. At least on your second play through, you can just skip the cut scenes.

It was good but the final speech was really, really long. I'm playing through the game again and I think I'll enjoy the ending more this time.

You won't understand what's going such as character backgrounds and such.
But if you're only in it for the gameplay rather than the story, then by all means pick it up and play it. Skip the cutscenes if you will lol.
However, I do recommend playing through the previous MGS titles anyway. The story is the real reason I love this series to bits. The gameplay comes 2nd when dealing with Metal Gear Solid.

Finally took me 4 days to finished, total game played hours 15:34:35, I really enjoy playing it, like im watching a very very long movie, with lots of touching moments, tear in eyes in some part.....
Best game I've ever played..

Loving the game so far.. about 5 1/2 hours in now.. i'm glad they decided to mix it up a bit with the jungle and all that. Its a lot easier to sneak around in the jungle then it is in the middle-east. You're relying more on grass cover than in-the-open blending-in. 10/10 so far.. the game has most definately lived up to the hype.

WOW finished MGS4 for the 2nd time in 9 hours and trust me it becomes way more fun because of new weapons and finding new routes to the destinations a game that is simply PERFECT!
