Ion Reveals $299.99 Price for Premium Rock Band Drums
Thought $180 for the original Rock Band package was expensive? You ain't seen nothing yet.
The official Web site for Ion's professional Drum Rocker (as recently revealed in Game Informer) lists a $299.99 price for the deluxe drum controller. Only the Xbox 360 version of the set is currently available for pre-order, though Wii and PS3 editions are "expected to ship later in the year," according to the site.
It's important to note that this is not the official drum set that will be packaged with Rock Band 2, but rather an officially licensed deluxe set that works with both Rock Band games.
While $300 may sound steep, Ion sounds like they've gone to great lengths to make sure serious virtual drummers get their money's worth. According to the site, the four high-durability, quiet, velocity-sensitive pads can be mounted and rearranged in any position and even outfitted with "professional drum brains" from Alesis. Add in a metal-reinforced kick pedal (with velcro and spikes to prevent slippage) and two packaged, mountable cymbals (with the option to add a third) and you've got what's unquestionably the Rolls Royce of drum controllers.

Anyway, don't forget that the bundled Rock Band 2 drums will have expansion slots for add-on cymbals:

nice find wutang yeah the ion kit looks really good, but it does carry a hefty price tag... the official website mentions that there'll be an accessory double bass pedal that can be added if needed. good to see that comment

This stuff looks sick as, but I have heard that guitar hero is so much better? any truth in this? considering rock band is a band setup i cant see how it compeats with gh4

Firstly, I should point out that Guitar Hero-World Tour isn't out yet, so no one can compare GH-WT with RB2 yet.
Secondly, it's based on opinions. As of this moment, I really love Rock Band over Guitar Hero III. It's not just because of the drums and mic, but because of the gameplay and controls.
Now I don't really want to spend money on both GH-WT and RB2, so you can guess which one I'm buying. Rock Band 2

and have a Wii - and it didnt make me a rock star . . .

I dunno about you guys ... but I really want the new wireless drum set (which is bouncier and supports velocity) and the sexy new looking guitar (which is quieter and more solid) ...

I might eventually buy the new drums seperately then offload the old ones on ebay but I dont think Ill bother with a new guitar.
Just wondering too, if they allow us to put all the RB1 songs off the disc into RB2 game file (im assuming they will be on the PS3 HDD, how else would you do it) could we then sell the RB1 disc ?

Ahh. I want to buy the RB Guitar and Drum bag, so I can store the RB1 kit in the garage. Easier to pick up and carry to someone's party
