yeah you guys. the Rockband 2 game is 360 only. we might have to wait a while to get it on the PS3.

It's called time exclusivity. Xbox 360 gets the game 2 months earlier than every other console.
Xbox 360 in September ...
The PS3 will get it in November.

But I'm wondering whether I should or not. I'm arriving in the States on Dec 24 and leaving the States mid-Jan ...

Hmmmm...might be easier and cheaper to just pick one up over there for sure. Save money on shipping, plus you wouldn't get very long to play it before you left for there anyways. I would get it over there man, and just pay the extra it'll cost you in luggage

I'm thinking of purchasing Rock Band 2, wrap it in paper or something ... and check it in as luggage. I want the box when I get back home ...

hahhaha yeah you can pay extra, but its usually pretty expensive. cheaper airlines like Jetstar are worse though, so if you're flying quantas it shouldnt be too much of a hassle. it also depends how full the flight is and if you got a nice person checking your luggage in

Hmm ... I have a feeling it'd be best buying it off GameStop still. I checked the Qantas site, and it costs based on the distance of the flight, and charged per kg.
GameStop charges USD44.99 which is acceptable in my books.
I'll buy it like one day before I board the plane back home. I should arrive in time for its arrival

Gamestop lists Rock Band 2 (PS3) with a release date of 17th Nov 2008.

But in the Gamestop newsletter, it said this:
Xbox 360 owners will get the first crack at Rock Band 2 when the stand-alone game releases September 14, with the Special Edition Bundle following on October 19. PS3 owners will get their chance with both the game and the bundle on October 19. Wii and PS2 owners will have to wait until November 18.
So I wonder. Is it October 19 now, or is it November 17 ...
