Call of duty: World at war review By Joshyboy I'd tell you about the previous games in the series, but im pretty sure we all know what happened. COD1,2,big red one, and COD3 were all based in WWII and then came along Call of duty 4 modern warefare. The first and only current call of duty game to be based in present day. Then call of duty: world at war was announced to be set in WWII. and made by treyarch. all cod fans had a heart attack because cod 3 was such a failure made by treyarch. But I'm here to tell you if it's actually any good. story. The story in call of duty World at war is based at the final days of WWII. They have done the story in a cool way in that there are actually two main soldiers you take control of. One is an American private named Miller. And it tells the story of the struggle to win the pacific on the beach. And the other is in Russia Where you play as sargent Dimitri Petrenko and take down enemy nazis. This is the more dramatic part of the story I felt but both are quite good. Gameplay. COD fans settled down a bit when they heard that COD W@W was going to be made on the same engine as call of duty 4. The cod4 enigine holds up really well in COD W@W. It barely lags. and it has the supreme graphics of COD4. The controls are identical to COD4, you can still sprint and looking down the sight is vital to get headshots. Plus you still knife people for a meelee attack. The guns are cool, although you might have seen them before in other WWII shooters. But they have included a lot of new guns. So you havn't seen all the guns before. That brings me to the flamethrower. And when you get it it's a lot of fun. You can set trees and grass on fire and it all looks very realistic. Graphics. COD4 won the best grapghics award last year and nothing has changed in COD W@W. It looks stunning. Every last bullet and blood spray looks life like. They have actually improved the graphics in some ways. They have added gore! Thats right the first COD to have limbs blown off and blood sparays everywhere. It makes killing those nazis even ,more enjoyable. Plus like I was saying before, the flamethrower is so cool. And is one of the more stunning bits of COD W@W. The cut scenes are very dramatic and provide a definet desire for the persona to live. sound. The sound is very well done, It changes to suit your situation and they have put a more rocky kind of vibe to it rather than the more orchestral music in COD4, I actually thought that the music was much more dramatic in COD4. But hey, this is a review for W@W. They have done very well in the sound for this game. The gun sound effects are really realistic. And the opening cut scene where the guy gets his throat cut was intense!! Online. It's basically more of the same thing, which isn't by any means bad. It's great. There's still the rewarding little number that pops up when u get a kill and the levels are bigger, much bigger. But there are also some good small ones too. The kill streaks are back again aswell with the new adition of dogs after a seven kill streak. This really keeps you on your toes when you hear them barking. and it's cool to knife them when they jump at you. Possibly the best thing is the country filter. With this there's all Australian servers and it eliminiates lagg. New stuff! They have added a new mode to keep you going after the campaign called nazi zombies. This is where you are alone in a house with fleets of undead nazis limping there way to your barracaded windows. It is surprisingly scary. And the gore is great. When you get points you can buy new weapons, and uncover new areas of the house. Also they have added competitive campaign. This is what it sounds like. You and up to 3 of your friends join you in levels of the campaign with two things two worry about who kills the most people and bragging rights. This turned out really well. Plus anything you can play by yourself you can play online in this game. It's awesome. Campaign 8/10 Gameplay 9/10 Graphics 9.5/10 sound 8/10 online 10/10! Overall 9/10
