PlayStation 3 - 9/10

I know this is a SonyFanboy site but everybody has to face the facts, so I go in detail to find out if the PlayStation3 will move the entertainment market to the next level.

Style

One of the most controversial topics of the PlayStation3 is the new curves and sharp angles and a glossy black finish that is a fingerprint magnet.
What Sony is trying to do is make the PS3 as futuristic as possible, but did they go too far? Short answer, no. Would you like it if it was just a square shaped box with chrome here and there? That would be boring and old, but making it new and futuristic helps Sony’s attempted to promote a new BluRay Disc.

Main point
No, style is here to stay so get use to its funk

Size

It’s big, we all know that, but when you compare it to something like a LG BluRay player, well it is still bigger but not as much as when your comparing it to a normal DVD slim player.
Also, if you have an Xbox 360 you will know that power box is MASSIVE! Well guess what 360 FanBoys, the PS3 has that inbuilt so if you picked up your power box thingo and stuck it on top of your 360, guess what, the 360 is bigger!

Main point
PS3 is big because it isn’t hiding anything (like the power box!)

BluRay

Is it the future? No. But neither is HD DVD’s.
By creating the future, you need to create something absolutely outstanding, something so fresh that it will take over. But the BluRay disc and the HD DVD are just copying DVD’s, all they are doing is upsizing how much you can fit on the disc.
But, the BluRay disc might be the future of gaming because it is highly unlikely that a movie will need 50gigs but maybe a game. Also the BluRay was designed for the PS3 so it was meant for the high powered processor speed and 8 cells ect.

Main point
It will work wonderfully with the PS3 but it wont take over as the new DVD

PS3 dominate Game Consoles?

Yes. Sony is very clever and know how to advertise. Everyone knows what a PS2 is and some people have never even heard of a Nintendo Game Cube, so already Sony has made all the dumb people know what their product is.
When the price goes down and combos start coming out that is when the majority of the market will start buying the console because they will already be bored of their 1 or 2 year old 360 and want to upgrade.

Main point
PS3 will dominate once again unless they stuff up big time with a stupid mistake. The Wii will die out in 2 years because it want be able to compete with heaps of features like game demo’s and HD content. Xbox will struggle to reinvent their console.
