What's the biggest online game on the PS3? No, it's not Killzone 2. No, it's not even Resistance 2. According to SCEA senior producer Mark Rogers, SOCOM Confrontation stands above both of Sony's high-profile first-party FPS offerings by having the most simultaneous online connections on the PlayStation Network. He attributes Confrontation's success to the community's commitment to the franchise. Whereas other gamers may play an online game for a few weeks and move on, SOCOM fans have proven to be far more dedicated (despite the game's ... troubled launch).

The devotion of the SOCOM community will be rewarded by an upcoming patch, Rogers promises. While the Slant Six team has been largely quiet about progress on the patch, he says the massive scale and scope of the patch has led to an extended testing cycle. With the promise of DLC in the future, it's clear that SOCOM addicts will find even more reason to avoid playing other games for a long time.

They do not give numbers though

It also sounds like they mean first party online. They never come out and say if its the top of the list for all or just for their published titles.

For some reason i cant bring myself to buy SOCOM. Almost did though cause it would have come with the PS3 headset bundled.

Why im not surprise ? well let my guess because SOCOM is excellent online game and I still play it.

I haven't played SOCOM for many years. I'm too afraid to buy the new one because the last experience I had with a SOCOM game left me feeling ripped off.

No surprise in my eyes since I've been playing it way before it was out in Australia I still see most of those players, its a great game I'm actually surprised that alot of people haven't even picked it up yet since its at such a good price.

its because u played it before they installed the new patch which they fixed 98% of the problems give it another shot because they r introducing more DLC soon.

Socom is an awesome game,but yeah a bit surprised about that i thought kilzone 2 would of been on top for sure

No way. I'd be curious to see figures for every game, rather than just first-party exclusives.

Well w@w always has 50000 players plus on playing and the amount of map packs sold would be an indicator that heaps and heaps of people are still playing. What i do find strange is people still playing cod3. I got this on the 360 for 20 dollars and i can always find a game on XBL.

That is surprising, as it isn't a particularly good game. I'm not surprised that Resistance 2 isn't there though, such a massive letdown that game was.

Resistance 2 is the best sequel, it has everything that a sequel must have bigger and better

That's a bit harsh, it wasn't the best game but it was still very good.

Not surprising at all. Best online PS3 game IMO. Any socom owner would know how big this is, id say it's more played than COD4 but can't really tell.

And tano.. that guy doesn't say anything about first party or third party, would have to be overall
