My dog just died at 13 i dunno even how too feel its ****ed i had him since he was born.

How do i deal with this

It is a sad situation. One of our dogs we bought the same week I was born. Was a while back now but it was terrible the day when we had to take her to the vet. I guess there is not much you can do to deal with it, just remember the good times.

I'm sorry for your loss. Now I'm thinking of my old dogs.

sorry i just feel really down.

I watched him die he spewed and was lying with his tounge out and eyes open and his hearts was beating fast. I guess it was a heart attack but i will never forget his face and tonight its going too haunt me i wish i never saw it.

I shouldn't have sterred at him in shock for 5 minutes i cant believe he is dead he has never shown signs off being sick or anything.

Im feeling worse and worse,

Ok im going too stop thinking about him

He died for a heart attack i prob could have saved him if i knew what too do. Its my fault he died in front of me and my mum.

sorry man. sounds terrible. pets really are an extension of family, i feel your pain. Like Hamzie said watch Marley and Me that movie is way better than I thought it would be, im not kidding I cried the last 15 minutes, reminded me of my dog (Mulder) who is very old now and deaf/blind. Sorry again about your dog

ive been waiting for my cat to die for months.. its over 16 years and its all frail.. but he still eats and stuff.. i have dug a hole already just in case.. cause id be to lazy to dig the hole the day he dies.

Micky im so sorry to hear about your dog passing away.

You will not find a bigger dog person than me (well im sure you can but you get what I mean), dogs are truely mans best friend. My dog is also getting on & is 12 years old, he is the son of my fathers dog (mother) & my brothers dog (father) who are now both passed. Last year I had to take him to the vet for an operation & just the vet telling me it was a risky operation & theres a chance he might not survive because of his age bought me to tears in seconds, the day he dies will no doubt be the worst day of my life & im really not looking forward to when I cant come home to my best mate, it will really be hard to handle it im sure.

Please dont blame yourself, I think we all wish our dogs could tell us when they aint feeling well so we can get them to the vet ASAP but obviously they cant. Theres proberly nothing I can say to make you feel better but know you will get better in time, you feel like crap because you loved your dog & theres nothing wrong with that.

Try to remember all the good times you have had with your dog & how much joy he brought to your family & dont dwell on what you witnessed last night.

So sorry mate.

when my Cockatoo died and i was putting the dirt over it it started making noises and i was WTF, and it was actually the lugs clalapsing and letting out the air, that was freaky to me while seeing my pet bird just lay there, and finding it is the worst feeling ever

Hey Micky, I know how you feel.

Just over two months ago I lost my dog, she was a lassie type dog (scotch collie) and I had her since I was 5. We took her everywhere and loved her so much. Two months before she died, we saw her go down hill. It was so sad to see but I still thought she could pull through.

Anyway on the morning she died I was meant to be at school but stay home due to throwing up several times and having a migraine. I was in my room and my mum came in crying saying she wish that didn't have to happen but she was putting my dog down. I was devastated and felt the world crashing down. I loved this dog like you wouldn't believe and here I am getting told that it was the end for her.

Before the Vet came, she was acting like a puppy, running around and showing love. I gave her a stack of treats and took her for one last walk. Then the Vet came an hour late and it was the longest hour of my life, sitting their with your dog knowing that this was the last time you would see her. I killed me inside. When the vet came inside, my dog knew something was up. She was walking away from the vet and staying with mum and I. We put her on her mat and just before she was given the needle she looked into my eyes and all I saw was sadness. She then looked into mums eyes and all mum saw was sadness. Mum moved away so the vet could get to the dog and my dog got up to go with mum but the vet held her down and gave her the needle.

Slowly my dog rolled on it's side and passed away. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen and I miss her everyday. We got her ashes back and buried them in the garden two weeks ago, nine weeks after we got them back. We were putting off doing it because we didn't want to say goodbye.

Here I am now at school writing this holding back my tears, thinking of how much I miss her and want to see her again. But you just have to think of the good times you had with your dog. I have a professional looking photo of my dog as my background, so I'll remember her whenever I turn on my laptop.

Eventually with time you start to heal, it's like losing a family member but you get over it and move on. I still havn't moved on and it's going to take a while but I will always love my dog.

well my cat seems to be better after talking it to the vet, but i think if we didnt take him he would be dead now

Thanks man, it means a lot.

What are your dogs names? I still have dogs at my house but they're getting old as well.

Collies just have so much love and personality that when you lose one, you feel empty inside.

Ozzy is my dog, his 12yo (13 in Nov) & my wife & I got another dog when we moved into together, her name is Frankie, 2 1/2 years old.

Ozzy is named after Ozzy Osborne because he doesnt have alot of white in him, mainly black, so his the prince of darkness like Ozzy Osbourne. Also his mother was named Alice & his dad was Cooper, so I wanted to keep the rock star thing going lol.

Frankie is named after my wifes favorite StKilda player Frankie Peckett (now retired).

@Kerrby and Micky: My condolences for your loss. I had a dog die when I was still young, I still remember it, luckily I was at my Grandmas Place and I bawled my eyes out for the whole day

I now have a cat and hopefully he lives till he's old and gray

When he dies, I'm getting an f'ing turtle, that thing will outlive me!

@hamzie: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all *Count this as your warning!*

Ozzy is great, very friendly, great with kids, they jump on him & pull his hair & he just lays there & takes it, I think he just knows they are kids & he must behave. Also very good with other dogs unless they attack him, then he will defend himself but his getting a bit old for all that now, he used to be able to dominate Frankie but now she runs rings around him. Loves a pat & going for walks, chasing the ball & returns it unlike Frankie LOL

We had a border collie when I was much younger that lived 18 years but yeah its not the norm. My wife asked me once if we would get another dog as a friend for Frankie if Ozzy dies but I couldnt answer it, I think it would take me a long time before I could do that, his like my son & my brother all in one big black dog.
