Medium is a good level to start off for guitar/drums.
But man I'm finding "Hard" quite a jump.

No there is no such converter. Your best option is to sell your GH guitars & invest in two NYCO Frontman guitars that will work with both GH3 & Rockband.

I concur with crazynites. The general design of the Frontman was based on the GH3 guitar. After purchasing one, you'll know what I mean.

Rock Band only needs 2 guitars if you intend to play multiplayer. It's just the same with Guitar Hero, it only comes with one guitar ... but if you want to play multiplayer, you have to get a 2nd guitar. (Disregarding those special bundles which includes 2 guitars now)

If they include a 2nd guitar in the bundle, we still have to pay extra for it. So by keeping it separate, those people who don't want a 2nd guitar ... don't have to pay for one! And the people who want a 2nd guitar, purchase one seperately. I don't see the big deal =/

And the patch not being released, I think it was Activion's fault. Harmonix created a compatibility fix patch, but Activision blocked it.

the big deal is this - I already have 4 GH guitars in the house (from getting all current games plus an additional guitar some time ago), and it should be easy to hook one of these up to RB with a converter. Thats all - I don't think this is too much to ask of the game developers ??

And RB has been released as a multiplayer game as one of its main attractions, so it should be able to handle other 3rd party peripherals right from the word go. If Activision have 'spat the dummy' and stopped a patch that would enable 3rd party controllers (ie other than the Frontman units), then thats a pretty poor reflection on Activision I think ?

Anyway, I am going to hunt down some more info from the US, I am sure there are heaps of people over there who also have the same wish, and just want to use their current GH guitars on RB.......

What you'd also be interested in, is if anyone has had their order shipped ... who ordered the Rock Band PS3 Bundle when it was on backorder.

And since the guitar came in 4 days once shipped, as long as they take maybe a week or 2 more to ship it out, it's the usual amount of time i wait for anything anyways.

I'm just greatful i don't have to wait till Septmember or whenever the damn Aussie release will be. ANytime before then and i'm happy.

I think there are still issues with backwards-compatibility of some GH games themselves on the PS3, but thats not really a problem here - we can play all the old GH games, with their guitars, on another TV in the kids room.

What I wanted to do, was just use one of the old GH guitars when playing RB on the PS3. Thats it - not have to buy another guitar, which can then 'only' be used on RB.....as good as the Frontman guitars are, it just puts the total cost of the game way too high - this game is built for 2 guitars, but released with one - I can't see the point of that at all ???

ANTCOMMANDOS have a PS2 - PS3 converter, but it specifies that it works for their TAC guitars - it may work with standard PS2 guitars if thats what you have - might be best to email them and ask the question.

If so, problem solved for around 20 bucks + post (from US)

Also - may not be a big deal for you but you wont be able to change (or possibly even use) guitar effects (Wah Wah, Echo, Chorus, etc) and, of course, no solo buttons (but then, neither does the FRONTMAN and its still a great guitar . . . )

thats exactly what I am hoping for. I joined the TAC site not long ago, and asked them a few questions about the converter, hopefully they will get back to me soon......



here is the direct quote from the review....

Perhaps this will help Rock Band succeed in Japan where Guitar Hero couldn't.
